Through Homas

Homam is a fire ritual of sacrifice. It is also known as homa or havan or yajna (yagya). In homam, divine presence is invoked into fire using specific procedures. Then materials are sacrificed into fire, along with sacred chants (mantras). The sacrifices are supposed to reach gods.It is said that when Lord Brahma (the creator among the Trinity) created man, he also created "Homam" for man's livelihood and his attainment of spiritual desires. The fundamental premise of Homam is derived from the Vedas, although, according to "Purusha Sooktham", it is the other way around - Vedas originated from Homam! Anyhow, Vedas and Homam are eternal truths having neither beginning nor end, and are "Apourusheyam" (divine, not the creation of humans). Vedas, indeed, contain the highest form of knowledge. The singular goal of Veda is to guide man through the correct path.It cleanses our aura as well as our mind. The god invoked gives us protections and fulfils our desires. The homams gives the desired result when performed reciting the prescribed mantras, using the prescribed ingredients, To counteract the negative influences of the planets and their bad yogas/doshas, or to improve and attain various desired objectives, the scriptures have prescribed several homams of various deities. The deity is worshipped in the prescribed ritualistic manner with mantras and offerings, the Brahmins are given anna-dana (feeding), vastra-dana(offering clothes) and dakshina(cash and kind)etc. The positive influences of these give you positive results.

Homam is a very powerful tool for spiritual progress. Chanting mantras in front of fire while offering material substances into fire has a great cleansing and calming influence on one's mind and gives great level of mental focus, peace, calmness and bliss. This practice has been extolled in many scriptures such as Yajurveda and Bhagavad Gita. Vedic seers practiced it regularly. Several people are experiencing the benefits of homam even todayIf one performs homam regularly for a few months, one will surely see the difference in one's mental state. The goal of all Homams is the prosperity of the people at large by energizing and protecting the environment. The Sun is considered as the main source of energy supply, and fire is considered as a representation of the Sun's energy. According to the ancient texts on Homam, any offer to Fire as a god, is actually an offer to Sun. Any such offer is either to enrich energy in the environment or to destroy the undesirable elements in the environment, and thus, in both ways, environment is protected.
